250703 Boogie Board

I have a Boogie Board from Improv, serving me well for moments when I have to jot down something real, I mean real, fast, even faster than turning my phone on, launching its notepad app, and sliding out the stylus.

With Boogie Board, I just pick it up and immediately scratch on it with my fingernail.

The company came out with a wireless version that can store pages just before it went bankrupt, before I could get one. Improv website is now shut down, but its Instagram account remains.

Many years later, a company in China finally managed to copy and paste one: LetSketch 樂寫.

Works with Android phone, via Bluetooth. Needs app ‘idoodle’. Tablet is able to store pages (don’t know and they didn’t mention how many pages) before uploading to phone.

Basically a digitizing tablet with LCD display. Cannot erase individual strokes. Using it will create overlapping unerasable strokes which is unsightly until you press the all-clear/refresh screen button.

Rechargeable using microUSB. Can also be connected to PC.

Not able to establish Bluetooth connection with PC. When connected, works just like other drawing pads. Its driver will not load unless you switch off Wacom tablet driver in PC (using Task Manager).

Did I mention that its stylus is thick? And there is no hidden pen slot. Instead, there is a rubber loop on the edge.

Still prefer XP-Pen as digitizing tablet for my PC.

Note: The storing of the digital drawing on the board’s memory will only happen if you use the stylus/pen provided with the board, not your fingernail or other stylus. And also with the board’s power turned on.
