Gotten a 6GB+128GB Redmi Pad SE 8.7 tablet at RM599. WiFi only, no 5G. When 128GB wasn’t enough, I slotted in a 1TB Extreme Pro (fastest in town). HyperOS didn’t actually move apps to the expansion, only their data. Went into Google Files and formatted the 1TB into ‘internal memory’. So now I can throw any rubbish into the tablet. One catch though – Chrome browser cannot be updated now as it says ‘not enough memory’ – Storage is now -854396567552/128GB. 🤦🏻♂️
I use it mainly for videos, and sometimes e-books. It doesn’t have native stylus input but you can get a third party capacitive stylus. Battery life is good. Screen is 1340 x 800 @ 90Hz, LCD. It even has a 3,5mm audio and FM radio, using the earphone cable as antenna.
Native launcher is bad. So I am using Nova Launcher, maxing out the home screen icon grid at 12 x 12, 78% size. But they overlap each other in landscape mode.
Xiaomi has an offer now for its Redmi Note 14 series where they throw in a Redmi Pad SE 8.7 tablet if you add RM199. The spec is only 4GB+64GB though. But that XIaomi Smart Band 9 watch is FOC.
