250122 HyperOS 2

When I bought my Xiaomi Pad 8.7 SE, it was running Android-based HyperOS 1.

With only 128GB of internal storage, I added a SanDisk 1TB Extreme Pro. But the problem was, I couldn’t actually move any app into the card. So I used Google Files to ‘format the card as internal storage’. It was working, except that Chrome couldn’t be updated. But it was okay – I use Opera instead.

Then came the update for its OS – HyperOS 2. I was hoping that it would address the negative storage issue. But it didn’t. Instead, after updating, the new OS failed to read the card. Everything that had been moved to the card were not accessible. The main memory was constantly full at 128GB/128GB used despite deleting many huge apps.

So I decided to factory-reset the whole thing, reformatted the card, and ditched the Nova Launcher.

Why is it like that?

Made in China lor… Why else?
